On October 25th the Lewis Family Foundation hosted Bryan Stevenson at the Great Hall at Faneuil Hall to a widely diverse audience comprised of over 700 youth, business, and community leaders. Bryan is a public interest attorney, social justice activist and the founder of the Equal Justice Initiative (EJI) in Montgomery, Alabama. During his lecture, “Moving from Comfortable Dialogue to Uncomfortable Action”, he spoke to facing the history of race and racism in our country by committing ourselves to a process of truth and reconciliation.
In 2018, Bryan Stevenson opened the Legacy Museum and National Memorial for Peace and Justice. Both are located in Montgomery, Alabama which hosted one of the most active slave auction sites in America. The museum and memorial are part of the work that EJI is doing to help us confront our legacy of slavery, lynching and segregation.
